UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed ongoing support for Ukraine with the leaders of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania and informed them of his recent talks with the leaders of Ukraine, France, and the United States on this matter.
According to Ukrinform, referencing the UK government website, these phone calls took place on Sunday ahead of the summit on Ukraine in London.
“The Prime Minister spoke to President Alar Karis of Estonia, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa of Latvia and President Gitanas Nausėda of Lithuania this morning,” the report stated.
During the conversations, Starmer emphasized that Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are key partners of the UK, including through the Joint Expeditionary Force, and welcomed their “leading contributions in support of Ukraine since Russia’s illegal invasion began”.
“The Prime Minister updated them on his discussions with the leaders of Ukraine, France and the United States in recent days – and underlined his focus on securing a lasting peace in Ukraine that ensures their future sovereignty, backed up by strong security guarantee,” the UK government reported.
It was noted that they agreed to remain in close contact over the coming weeks.
As reported by Ukrinform, the international leaders’ meeting on March 2 in London will discuss strengthening Ukraine’s position, including ongoing military support, increased economic pressure on Russia, as well as achieving a just peace and developing strong security guarantees for Ukraine.
Leaders from Italy, France, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Canada, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Romania will participate in the summit. Ukrainian President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, the NATO Secretary-General, and the Presidents of the European Commission and European Council will also attend.
