High technologies can become the basis for forming a new international image of Ukraine in contrast to the traditional perception of Ukraine as a state focused mainly on agriculture.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Ukrinform by Italian activist of Ukrainian origin Svitlana Tereshchenko, who spoke about the need to form a new national idea.

“Our problem is that we seem to have not yet formed our own national idea. In my opinion, high technologies can become our new national idea. That is, everyone knows that Ukraine is the traditional breadbasket of Europe, but now let them start to realize that we are also a ‘digital breadbasket,’” Tereshchenko said.

She emphasized that Ukraine is decades ahead of Italy in terms of the level of digitalization of services, because only a year ago, Italian television broadcast ads of pay with phone services, while in Ukraine this has long become the norm.

“We need to help Europeans understand that Ukrainians are not only those who harvest from our fertile land, but also develop and implement breakthrough technologies,” the activist believes.

She added that Ukraine’s human capital is extremely important for Europe.

“In Ukraine, 75 percent of the population aged 25 to 35 have higher education. And in Italy, only 27%. In Germany, 41%. Here’s another idea for a national message: tell the whole world to come to us for obtaining education, especially in the field of high technology,” Tereshchenko emphasized.

As reported, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal stated that digitalization is one of the vectors of work that the government is focusing on.

High technologies are also an integral part of modern warfare.

Late February, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine showed NATO partners how the DELTA battlefield awareness system, the Avengers artificial intelligence platform, and the technology for identifying friendly unmanned systems UA DRONE ID perform in live combat conditions.

According to the Deputy Minister of Defense for Digitalization, Kateryna Chernohorenko, thanks to these technologies, Ukraine maintains leadership in the field of digital combat systems.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense presented innovative military developments at the NATO Edge 24 exhibition in the United States.
