War update: 72 combat clashes along front lines, fighting in Pokrovsk, Toretsk sectors most intense

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 72 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the Russian troops, with the most intense fighting occurring in the Pokrovsk and Toretsk sectors, as well as in Russia’s Kursk region.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, releasing operational information as of 16:00 on Sunday, March 2, as reported by Ukrinform.

Artillery shelling by the Russian forces targeted Tymonovychi in Chernihiv region, as well as Hirka, Korenkivka, and Petrushivka in Sumy region. Liutivka in Kharkiv region was also subjected to airstrikes.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy made one attempt to advance near Zahryzove, which was successfully repelled by the Ukrainian defenders.

The aggressor launched seven attacks on the Ukrainian positions in the Lyman sector, near Nove and Novomykhailivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the Ukrainian forces successfully repelled three enemy attacks near Chasiv Yar, Hryhorivka, and Oleksandro-Shultyne.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy launched 12 attacks near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. Six engagements are ongoing.

There is high enemy activity in the Pokrovsk sector, where 13 engagements of varying intensity took place. The Ukrainian forces repelled enemy attacks near the settlements of Tarasivka, Promin, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Kotliarivka, Andriivka, and Ulakly. Aerial strikes targeted Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, and Leontovychi.

The invaders made four attempts to break through near Kostiantynopil and Skudne in the Novopavlivka sector, all of which were stopped by the Ukrainian forces. Russian airstrikes were carried out on Voskresenke and Sichneve.

In the Huliaipole sector, the enemy conducted airstrikes near Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, and Priutne. Additionally, the Ukrainian forces successfully repelled an attack near Pryvilne.

Fighting continues near Nesterianka in the Orikhiv sector.

In the Prydniprovske sector, the enemy launched two assaults on the Ukrainian positions, with one engagement still ongoing.

No significant enemy activity has been reported in the Kharkiv and Siversk sectors since the beginning of the day.

In Russia’s Kursk region, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 enemy attacks, with eight engagements still ongoing. The enemy also carried out 10 airstrikes using 17 guided bombs.

As reported by Ukrinform, starting 19:30 on Saturday, March 1 to 08:30 on Sunday, the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down 63 Russian drones, with 16 others lost in various locations.
