Zelensky, Meloni discuss joint actions for achieving just peace

President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to discuss a joint plan of action for ending the war with a fair and lasting peace.

As reported by Ukrinform, Zelensky shared this in a Facebook post.

“I had a productive meeting with the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni to develop a joint action plan for ending the war with a just and lasting peace. No one other than Putin is interested in the continuation and quick return of the war. Therefore, it is important to maintain unity around Ukraine and strengthen our country’s position in cooperation with our allies – the countries of Europe and the United States,” said Zelensky.

He emphasized that Ukraine needs peace backed by reliable security guarantees.

The President thanked Italy for its continuous support and partnership in advancing peace in Ukraine.

According to the President’s official website, Zelensky and Meloni discussed the importance of unity around Ukraine and strengthening the country’s position in cooperation with allies, including European nations and the United States.

They also specifically addressed the need for reliable security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe. The Ukrainians must be assured that Russia will never again return with war.

Additionally, the leaders discussed new formats for consultations between European countries and the United States.

As reported by Ukrinform, during a meeting with her British counterpart Keir Starmer in London, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reaffirmed her commitment to achieving a fair and lasting peace in Ukraine.
