South Korea will continue to help Ukraine restore peace and rebuild the war-torn country.

This was stated at a briefing by Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Lee Jae-un, Ukrinform reports with reference to Yonhap.

Commenting on the suspension of military aid to Ukraine by the United States, Lee said: “We are closely monitoring relevant developments.”

According to the diplomat, Seoul has no intention of changing its current aid policy on Ukraine.

“We will continue our efforts to support the swift restoration of peace in and reconstruction of Ukraine,” the foreign ministry spokesman noted.

Due to national legislation, South Korea does not transfer weapons to Ukraine, but instead supplies certain non-lethal types of military equipment and finances demining, humanitarian aid, and critical infrastructure restoration programs.

At the same time, when the regime in the DPRK launched large-scale arms supplies to Russia and in October sent troops to support the Russian war effort against Ukraine, Seoul said it may review its position, abandon restrictions, and start supplying Ukraine with the weapons necessary to protect the nation against Russian aggression.

As Ukrinform reported, in late February, South Korean intelligence stated that it had obtained data on the DPRK regime dispatching another 1,000 soldiers to support Russia’s war against Ukraine. The group has already been transferred to the front line in Russia’s Kursk region, the report said.
