The United States is ready to resume talks with Ukraine if President Volodymyr Zelensky engages “seriously on the details” of the peace plan.

This was stated by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance in an interview with CNN, Ukrinform reports.

Answering the question of whether Zelensky could return to the White House if he says he is ready to discuss the peace plan, Vance said: “I think that if he called and had a serious proposal for how he was going to engage in the process. Look, there are details that really matter that we’re already working on with the Russians. We’ve talked with some of our allies, he needs to engage seriously on the details.”

According to the vice president, Zelensky “showed a clear unwillingness to engage in the peace process that President Trump has said is the policy of the American people and of their president”.

At the same time, the US vice president expressed the opinion that Zelensky “eventually” will participate in the peace process because he “has to” do so.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on February 28, the meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and the U.S. at the White House ended early after a heated argument over the facts about the war in Ukraine, as well as trust in words and agreements with Putin. An agreement between the two countries related to minerals extraction was not signed in Washington.
