Overnight, on March 7, Russia launched a massive airstrike on Ukraine, which was for the first time repelled by French Mirage-2000 fighter jets.
According to Ukrinform, Ukraine’s Air Force reported this on Telegram.
“The enemy airstrike was repelled by anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces. Fighter aircraft, including F-16s and Mirage-2000s, were also involved in the defense,” the post reads.
The Air Force noted that the French Mirage-2000 fighters, which had arrived in Ukraine only a month ago, took part in repelling the enemy’s attack for the first time.
On March 7, the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down 25 Russian Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles, eight Kalibr missiles, one guided air-to-surface missile Kh-59/69, and 100 drones.
As reported by Ukrinform, Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko stated that on March 7, Ukraine’s energy and gas infrastructure in various regions was targeted in a massive Russian missile and drone attack.
