A spike in disinformation operations aimed at discrediting mobilization in Ukraine is being recorded in the English-speaking segment of the X platform.
The Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform saw.
It is noted that as part of the campaign, numerous manipulative posts regarding mobilization efforts are being circulated. These posts spread unconfirmed figures about the alleged number of “forcefully mobilized men”, branding Ukraine a “dictatorship”.
Videos shot at different times are also being widely shared, many of them having no relation to mobilization whatsoever. For example, these include videos of people being detained who are in fact soldiers in AWOL; random street fights, not involving draft officers; and regular crime suspects being arrested etc. Some videos that are presented as “forced mobilization” were even filmed in other European countries.
“The purpose of the information campaign is to undermine support for Ukraine from the Western community and weaken Ukraine’s negotiating position,” the disinformation watchdog emphasized.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the CCD refuted fake reports of the alleged plans to introduce mandatory military registration for children aged 14 and over.
