In Zaporizhzhia, during a night attack on March 8, a Russian “Shahed” hit one of the workshops of the Palianytsia volunteer center and destroyed it.
All concerned citizens, together with volunteers, are dismantling the rubble, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“From the first days of the war, we organized a volunteer center in Zaporizhzhia, which we called Palianytsia, and so I think this is revenge for being a center of resistance,” says Hennadiy Vovchenko, one of the founders of the center.
In a post on his Facebook page, he wrote that on the night of March 8, Shahed hit the shop with a direct hit and almost completely destroyed his business.
“First, please know that my team and I are alive and well. Secondly, we will not give up and will work to accelerate our victory. We are full of enthusiasm and positive energy. Third, you are all incredible!” Vovchenko wrote.
He added that he did not expect so many people to help him.
“I cried in the evening because of how many people responded and helped with money. I am very grateful to everyone. I want to say thank you to every person. Even though there is an expression “my house is on the edge,” when trouble strikes, we all come together,” the volunteer said.
Valentyna Tyshkevych, a resident of Zaporizhzhia, has been working in the volunteer workshop since the first days of the full-scale invasion. She was engaged in weaving camouflage nets and making trench candles. The woman says she was shocked when she learned about the Russian UAV strike.
Now she and others are helping to rebuild their resistance center.
“We have been working and are working to win,” she said.
For two days in a row, the rubble has been cleared from the destroyed shop, construction waste is being removed, and all metal structures that became damaged as a result of the enemy attack are being cut out. In the near future, the electrical wiring and glazing will be restored and the shop will be rebuilt. A donation jar has been opened for all those who care and want to help.
Earlier it was reported that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the volunteer center was dubbed a “defense enterprise” that produced anti-tank hedgehogs, stoves, body armor, and more.
