U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will be in Saudi Arabia March 10-12 for talks with members of a high-ranking delegation from Ukraine.
This was stated by U.S. Department of State spokesperson Tammy Bruce, Ukrinform reports.
“Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia March 10-12 for talks with Ukrainian counterparts to advance the President’s goal to end the Russia-Ukraine war,” she said.
Bruce added that, while in Jeddah, Rubio will also meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to discuss “ways to advance shared interests in the region and strengthen the U.S.-Saudi relationship”.
According to the official, Rubio will be in Charlevoix, Canada, on March 12-14, meeting with his G7 counterparts.
“Secretary Rubio’s engagements will further U.S. interests in peace and security, strategic cooperation, and global stability. Discussions will focus on conflicts in the Middle East and Europe, cooperation in Africa and the Indo-Pacific, and stability in the Western Hemisphere,” Bruce concluded.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed confidence that the meeting of the Ukrainian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia will turn out productive.
The Ukrainian delegation that will meet with the American side in Saudi Arabia includes the head of the Office of the Prime Minister, Andriy Yermak, his deputy, Pavlo Palisa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, and Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov.
