Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian defenders engaged in 167 combat clashes with Russian forces, with almost a third occurring in the Kursk sector, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The General Staff said this in an update published on Facebook at 08:00 on Sunday, March 9, Ukrinform reports.
The Russian army launched three missile strikes and deployed 103 guided aerial bombs against Ukrainian defensive positions and populated areas. In addition, Russian forces carried out over 6,200 attacks, including 217 from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and launched 3,229 kamikaze drones.
Russian aircraft targeted several areas, including Dovzhyk and Kozacha Lopan in the Kharkiv region, Leontovychi, Voskresenka, and Novopil in the Donetsk region, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novoiakovlivka, Pavlivka, and Stepove in the Zaporizhzhia region, and Kozatske in the Kherson region.
Over the past day, Ukrainian aircraft, missile forces, and artillery struck 22 Russian military targets, including 18 troop and equipment concentration areas, two artillery units, and two enemy UAV command centers.
In the Kharkiv sector, Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks near Vovchansk and Petro-Ivanivka.
In the Kupiansk sector, 11 enemy assaults were stopped near Kindrashivka, Lozova, Stepova Novoselivka, Nova Kruhliakivka, and Zahryzove.
In the Lyman sector, Russian troops launched 23 attacks, attempting to advance near Novomykhailivka, Nove, Myrne, Kolodiazi, Yampolivka, and Zelena Dolyna.
In the Kramatorsk sector, two clashes were recorded near Chasiv Yar and Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk sector, Russian forces launched 19 attacks near Druzhba and Toretsk.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 25 enemy assaults in areas near Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Andriivka, Oleksandropil, Pokrovsk, Serhiivka, Novooleksandrivka, Bohdanivka, Tarasivka, Lysivka, Zelenyi Kut, and Ulakly.
In the Novopavlivka sector, six enemy attacks were repelled near Kostiantynopil and Burlatske.
In the Huliaipole sector, three enemy assaults were recorded near Charivne.
In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian forces repelled seven Russian assaults near Piatykhatky, Stepove, Shcherbaky, and Kamianske.
In the Siversk and Dnipro River sectors, no combat engagements were reported.
In Russia’s Kursk region, Ukrainian forces repelled 44 enemy attacks over the past day. The Russian military launched 44 guided aerial bombs, carried out 577 artillery strikes, and 52 MLRS attacks against Ukrainian positions and settlements.
No indications of enemy assault group formations were detected in the Volyn and Polissia sectors.
Earlier reports said that Russia lost 1,180 personnel in Ukraine over the past 24 hours, along with several hundred units of military equipment and weaponry.
