Dmytro Lubinets, the Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights, and Mirjana Spoljaric-Egger, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, during a meeting in Geneva, discussed the situation of Ukrainian citizens held Russian captivity, as well as Russia’s systematic violations of the rights of Ukrainians living under occupation.

The parties focused on prisoners of war, illegally held civilians, and children who were removed, forcibly relocated by the Russians, and who remain in temporarily occupied territories.
“We are developing new initiatives to address these issues. Ukraine continues to fight for each of its citizens and will do everything possible to bring them back them and protect their rights,” the ombudsman said.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Lubinets stressed the need for the urgent return of seriously wounded prisoners of war to Ukraine, as many of them die in captivity due to lack access to medical assistance.
