Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha believes that Turkey could play a crucial role in achieving a just and comprehensive peace in Ukraine.

He told this to journalists in Warsaw on Wednesday, March 12, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“Turkey’s role [in ending Russia’s war against Ukraine] is extremely important, considering both the potential of this country and the role it plays in the region, especially in the Black Sea region… Turkey has one of the largest armies on the European continent. And certainly, in the context of future agreements to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in Ukraine, this role will be essential,” Sybiha said.

He also recalled that it was at the initiative of the Turkish president in 2022 that the “grain corridor” in the Black Sea was established.

“Turkey has also been actively involved in the processes of releasing prisoners of war, and we are grateful for that,” Sybiha added.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier stated that Turkey could become one of the key security guarantors for Ukraine.

According to Bloomberg, Turkey is ready to send troops to Ukraine as part of peacekeeping forces. Zelensky discussed the issue of a peacekeeping mission during his recent visit to Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
