Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is setting various conditions instead of accepting the U.S. proposal for a ceasefire, unlike Ukraine.
This was emphasized by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the social media platform X, as reported by Ukrinform.
“This is the difference. Ukraine said ‘yes’ to US ceasefire proposal. Because Ukraine wants peace. Putin, rather than saying ‘yes’, puts forward various conditions. Ukraine seeks an end to the war. Putin seeks to continue the war. The rest of his words are just a smokescreen,” Sybiha stated.
Earlier, Putin claimed that Moscow agreed to the proposal to cease hostilities in Ukraine but put forward certain conditions.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he had the leverage necessary to achieve a ceasefire in Russia’s war against Ukraine but had refused to disclose the details.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced that Putin’s statements are yet another Russian manipulation aimed at buying time and avoiding real steps toward peace.
