Sybiha discusses with head of German Chancellor’s Office path to peace in Ukraine

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with the head of the Federal Chancellor’s Office, Federal Minister for Special Assignments Wolfgang Schmidt, who is on a visit to Ukraine, to discuss a way to a just and lasting peace.

That’s according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukrinform reports.

“The parties discussed the path to just and lasting peace in Ukraine,” the ministry’s press service said.

Sybiha briefed his interlocutor on the outcome of negotiations in Jedda, which took place earlier this week. He stressed that Ukraine, like no other, is interested in seeing an unprovoked destructive war end.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed a deep gratitude to Wolfgang Schmidt for his personal role in ensuring for the last three years multi-billion German assistance to Ukraine in military, financial, energy, and humanitarian spheres.

In turn, the head of the Chancellor’s Office assured Sybiha that Germany would continue to stand firmly on Ukraine’s side. He informed Sybiha of the latest decisions made in Germany aimed at creating opportunities to increase the financing of Ukraine’s military needs in the near future.

As reported earlier, the head of the Christian Democratic Union and the candidate for the post of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed hope that EUR 3 billion worth of assistance to Ukraine would be agreed in the coming days.
