The new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, discussed Ukraine’s path to peace with his British counterpart Keir Starmer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and other close allies.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Canadian Prime Minister announced this on the social media platform X.

“I spoke with Prime Minister Starmer, President Zelensky, and many of our closest allies this morning to discuss Ukraine’s path to peace,” Carney wrote.

Carney emphasized that Canada supports the proposal for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. “Russia must stop stalling and launching its attacks. It’s time for Russia to come to the table in good faith,” he stressed.

According to Carney, in line with the agreement reached by the G7 foreign ministers during the meeting at Charlevoix, Canada, the G7 countries will tighten the monitoring of sanctions against Russia to ensure compliance.

“Canada is Ukraine’s steadfast ally. We will make sure Ukraine has the military support it needs to defend itself — now and into the future,” Carney assured.
