Approximately 70% of Ukrainians may return from abroad, provided that Ukraine undergoes appropriate changes and develops.
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov, who spoke in an interview with BBC Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
According to the official, about 30% of fellow citizens are ready to return to Ukraine once secure and stable conditions are set, and another 40% will decide based on Ukraine’s success, its economic recovery, reconstruction, and development.
“I’d like to emphasize that ‘bringing Ukrainians back’ is not quite a correct term. This is a decision that Ukrainians will make on their own. Our task is to be competitive, because for those 40%, we will compete with other countries,” Chernyshov explained.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that after the war is over, the Ukrainian government will actively work to create an open economy, attract investment, simplify taxes, and support business. That is, to liberalize the market and security guarantees, which will actually contribute to the country’s rapid revival.
“This is what will create jobs, and they are the motivation for Ukrainians to come back,” Chernyshov concluded.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, referring to Eurostat, as of January 31, about 4.3 million people who had fled Ukraine amid Russia’s full-scale invasion achieved temporary protection status in the EU member states.
