Türkiye supports Trump’s initiatives to end Russo-Ukrainian war – Erdoğan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during a phone call with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump, said he supported his decisive and direct efforts to end the Russo-Ukrainian war.

The press service of the Turkish head of state reported this on X on Sunday, March 16, Ukrinform reports.

“President Erdoğan said that Türkiye supports President Trump’s decisive and direct initiatives to end the war between Russia and Ukraine and emphasized that Türkiye has been striving for a just and lasting peace since the beginning of the war and will continue to do so,” the statement said following the conversation.

It is noted that Türkiye also expects the United States to take measures in the fight against terrorism with an approach that takes into account Türkiye’s interests.

Among other things, the parties will discuss the issue of Syria, Türkiye’s return to the F-35 fighter program, etc.

As Ukrinform reported, Türkiye does not recognize the temporary occupation of the Crimean peninsula by Russia, supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
