The UN humanitarian mission is observing a disruption in shelter repairs, cessation of health care services, mental health support for children, and multi-purpose cash aid in Ukraine due to the cessation of assistance from the United States.
This was reported to Ukrinform by the UN Humanitarian Mission in Ukraine.
The Agency confirmed that the freeze and reduction of American funding are affecting critical multi-sectoral operations in Ukraine.
As a result, the UN is observing a decrease in access to clean water and sanitation for 1.4 million people, mainly in five regions along the front line, and a disruption in critical shelter repairs, including in more than 100 shared facilities.
The international organization is also observing the cessation of comprehensive health care for 300,000 people, mainly along the front lines, and the cessation of mental health support for 87,000 children.
In addition, 716,000 people are no longer able to cover their basic needs with multi-purpose cash support.
As reported, on January 20, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending all foreign aid programs for 90 days pending reviews to determine whether they meet his political goals.
Rubio announced on March 10 that the U.S. is officially shutting down 83% of the programs run by the Agency for International Development (USAID).
