The President of the United States stated that many elements of the final peace agreement on Ukraine have already been agreed upon, but much work remains to be done. This will be the subject of his conversation with Putin.
Donald Trump announced this on his social network, Truth Social, as reported by Ukrinform.
“Tomorrow morning I will be speaking to President Putin concerning the War in Ukraine. Many elements of a Final Agreement have been agreed to, but much remains,” he wrote.
The White House head noted that thousands of soldiers on both sides continue to die in the war.
“It must end now. I look very much forward to the call with President Putin,” the U.S. president said.
Earlier, Reuters reported that Trump repeated claims he had made previously — those denied by the Ukrainian side — alleging that Ukrainian Armed Forces troops in Kursk region were “in deep trouble,” meaning they were surrounded.
In this regard, he stated that he had asked Putin to spare Ukrainian lives.
Furthermore, Trump expressed the opinion that his freeze on military aid to Ukraine, as well as pressure on President Zelensky, apparently helped persuade Kyiv to accept the U.S. position.
“A lot of people are being killed over there, and we had to get Ukraine to do the right thing. But I think they’re doing the right thing right now,” the American leader said.
Earlier, asked what concessions were being considered in ceasefire negotiations, Trump said: “We’ll be talking about land. We’ll be talking about power plants… We’re already talking about that, dividing up certain assets.”
As previously reported, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski believes that during Tuesday’s negotiations with Putin, Donald Trump should dissuade him from some absurd demands, including “demilitarization” and the seizure of all of Ukraine.
