The situation on the border between Ukraine’s Sumy region and Russia’s Kursk region remains under the control of Ukrainian forces.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
“Reports circulating on social media about Russian forces advancing deep into the Sumy region are false. Russian occupiers are attempting to enter certain border settlements in small groups. However, due to well-coordinated actions and a pre-established defense system, enemy forces are swiftly eliminated by Ukrainian firepower,” the statement reads.
The General Staff said that Ukrainian defenders are successfully repelling all enemy attempts to gain a foothold in the Sumy region, inflicting heavy personnel losses on Russian troops.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ command is taking all necessary measures to reinforce our group of forces with technical resources and reserves,” the statement added.
The General Staff said that Ukrainian forces continued to hold positions in Russia’s Kursk region.
“It is important to note that the enemy continues its psychological and information warfare, spreading propaganda narratives aimed at discrediting [Ukraine’s] military leadership, sowing panic, and undermining trust in Ukrainian society,” the statement said, urging citizens to rely only on official sources for information.
The General Staff also noted that official military spokespeople provide daily updates on the Russo-Ukrainian war and battlefield developments.
Earlier reports indicated that a significant number of Russian units involved in the Kursk operation have been observed moving closer to the Ukrainian border near the Sumy region.
