President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Black Sea Maritime Corridor would work regardless of whether Russia wants it or not.
The head of state stated this at an online press conference Tuesday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The corridor is working for us and will work despite the attacks targeting it, which, unfortunately, are taking place. That is, whether Russia wants it or not, the corridor will work,” Zelensky said.
He noted that the ports are part of civil infrastructure, and suggested that the situation related to the security of Ukrainian ports may change in the near future.
“I think we will see some progress in the coming days,” Zelensky predicted.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump had a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Donald Trump’s administration said the Russian side agreed to a limited ceasefire, implying that strikes be halted targeting energy and infrastructure facilities in Ukraine as part of an initiative proposed by the U.S. to establish peace in Ukraine.
On March 11, the Russians attacked a sea port in Odesa. The MJ PINA, a ship flying the flag of Barbados, was attacked by a ballistic missile. Four Syrian citizens were killed. The youngest victim was 18 years old, the oldest was 24. Two more people were injured – a Ukrainian and a Syrian.
