This week, Ukraine is preparing substantive discussions with European partners on specific security measures.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in his evening video address, Ukrinform reports.
“Today, we also held meetings on diplomatic efforts. I recently spoke with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. Yesterday, there was a meeting with the U.S. delegation. Today, U.S. representatives spoke with the war team – Russian representatives. After that, there was another meeting between the Ukrainian and American delegations. I am also expecting a new report,” Zelensky said.
The president stressed the need for progress toward real peace and guaranteed security.
“This is something we all need — in Ukraine, in Europe, in America, and everyone in the world who wants stability in international relations,” Zelensky said.
He noted that Russia is the only entity prolonging the war and inflicting suffering on both Ukraine and the global community.
“To push Russia toward peace, we need strong actions and decisive steps. We are ready to support any strong initiative that makes diplomacy more effective. That means applying pressure to force Russia into wanting to end the war. This includes sanctions, support for Ukraine, and international coordination,” Zelensky said.
He said that Ukraine is preparing for substantive cooperation with European partners this week to implement concrete joint security measures.
“A significant part of Europe is ready for concrete security work, and that is very good. I am grateful to everyone standing with Ukraine!” he added.
On March 23, delegations from Ukraine and the United States held negotiations in Saudi Arabia. On March 24, a Russian delegation arrived in Riyadh for talks with U.S. representatives.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated that the Russia-U.S. negotiations in Saudi Arabia could impact the situation in the Black Sea.
