Russia is willing to involve the United Nations in the ceasefire negotiation process because Moscow has leverage over the organization.

This was announced on national television by the advisor to the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Serhiy Leshchenko, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“If Russia prefers to see the UN there, this can only indicate that they have some leverage over the United Nations – the right of veto in the Security Council. If they exercise the veto right to halt decisions they don’t like, this will make the negotiation process much more difficult, or even impossible. We have been through this multiple times,” Leshchenko said.

As reported, Grigory Karasin, the representative of the aggressor state at the talks in Riyadh, suggested that the UN and individual countries would be involved in future ceasefire negotiations.
