A Lion Rescue Center has been opened in Britain’s Kent to house animals evacuated from Ukraine due to hostilities.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Ambassador Valeriy Zaluzhnyi on Telegram, Ukrinform saw.
“Britain has taken in hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians fleeing Russian bombs and missiles. People here have opened their homes, children have been given the opportunity to study, they have been sheltered and supported. But that’s not all,” Zaluzhnyi noted.
According to the diplomat, a Lion Rescue Center was recently opened in Kent, which now houses animals evacuated from Ukraine.
“Five Ukrainian lions, living witnesses of the war. Many animals in Ukraine were left hungry and cold, without supervision due to hostilities. The noble work was done by volunteers, veterinarians, and the entire team of The Big Cat Sanctuary, which set up a new home for Ukrainian animals. Now they are safe,” Zaluzhnyi noted.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, animals were killed and injured in a Russian drone attack on March 3 in Feldman Ecopark in Kharkiv region. After the latest offensive by Russian troops in the north of Kharkiv in 2024, the ecopark has been affected more and more often.
