UN aid coordinator visits Zaporizhzhia

Matthias Schmale, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, paid a visit to a Zaporizhzhia emergency hospital and a training center run by the Motobudivnyk vocational school.

The regional military administration reported this on Telegram, Ukrinform saw.

“Matthias Schmale visited two important facilities in Zaporizhzhia: the traumatology department at the city emergency hospital, where reconstruction work is underway, and the training center at the Motobudivnyk vocational school,” the administration wrote.

It was noted that the visit to the training center made a strong impression on the UN coordinator. In his opinion, vocational education is no less important than that provided by universities.

“I’m particularly impressed by the fact that half of the students are female, and that they are eager to acquire professional skills that are in demand in business and industry,” said Matthias Schmale, according to a report penned in Ukrainian.

He added that qualified specialists are necessary for economic recovery.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, a first practical training center for construction workers was deployed in Lviv.
