National security advisers of the leaders of all Group of Seven nations discussed progress in the peace process on Ukraine.

This was stated by the National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Canada, Nathalie Drouin, after an online conference with her counterparts from other G7 countries and head of Ukraine’s President’s Office Andriy Yermak, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I convened a second meeting of G7 National Security Advisors and Ukraine to discuss the ongoing peace talks to reach a just, comprehensive, and permanent end to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine,” Drouin said of the meeting, which took place on Friday.

According to the official, the “importance of confidence-building measures” was mentioned. “I underscored the necessity of robust and credible security arrangements to ensure that Ukraine can deter and defend against any renewed acts of aggression and emphasized the importance of upholding or expanding sanctions against Russia during this critical time,” the Canadian Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor noted.

In addition, Drouin “reaffirmed Canada’s unwavering support for Ukraine and that Russia must be held to account for their acts of aggression against Ukraine”.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, previously said that he had briefed the parties on the results of the Paris meeting on support for Ukraine.
