U.S. President Donald Trump is working “incredibly hard” to achieve peace in Ukraine, but he has expressed “displeasure” with how the Russian and Ukrainian sides are commenting on the process from each side.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Monday, Ukrinform’s own correspondent reports.
“The president is working incredibly hard to get a peace deal done between Russia and Ukraine, and he has expressed his displeasure with comments that have been made by leaders of both sides of this conflict,” Leavitt noted.
Thus, she commented on Trump’s comment made the day before that he was “pissed” by how Putin continues to challenge Zelensky’s legitimacy. In addition, the U.S. president on Sunday threatened Ukraine with “big problems” if it steps back from concluding an agreement with the US on minerals, which the American side significantly amended at the last moment.
Leavitt noted that the head of the White House “expressed what he believes needs to take place in order to see this conflict come to an end”.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on Monday the State Department stated that the U.S. was working on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine with the understanding that both Moscow and Kyiv must make tough decisions and compromises.
