The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has refuted Russia’s claims about Ukraine allegedly “violating” agreements regarding a ceasefire for energy infrastructure, emphasizing that Ukrainian forces strike exclusively military targets of the Russian army.
The General Staff said this in a statement published on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
“The Russian Defense Ministry has once again spread false claims about Ukraine allegedly ‘violating’ agreements on a ceasefire concerning energy facilities. The enemy is doing this solely to divert global attention from the crimes the Russian state is committing against Ukraine and Ukrainians,” the statement reads.
According to the General Staff, new disinformation has emerged from Russia, accusing the Ukrainian Defense Forces of supposedly carrying out 14 “attacks” on Russian energy infrastructure on April 4. These “attacks” are fake.
“In reality, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are only carrying out strikes on military targets of the Russian occupation army. Meanwhile, it is the Russian invaders who continue to demonstrate their insane nature, cynically ignoring any agreements and ruthlessly attacking Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, cities, and villages,” the General Staff said.
It also recalled that on April 4, Russian terrorists committed another war crime by launching an Iskander-M ballistic missile with a cluster munition warhead at Kryvyi Rih, killing nine children and nine adults and injuring 62 more people.
On the same day, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 92 Shahed drones, dropped 171 guided aerial bombs, and fired artillery 6,353 times, damaging civilian and critical infrastructure in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, and other regions of Ukraine.
“The defense ministry of the terrorist state once again resorts to false accusations, trying to shift the responsibility for prolonging the war and the deaths of people onto Ukraine. We hope that the world will not accept Russia’s lies and will condemn these latest brutal Russian war crimes,” the General Staff said.
On April 3, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that Ukrainian forces were adhering to the terms of an “energy ceasefire” and not striking energy facilities in Russia or in the temporarily occupied regions.
