On Thursday, April 10, defense ministers from the “Coalition of the Willing” will gather in Brussels, under the leadership of their counterparts from the United Kingdom and France.
This is said in a statement published on the UK Government’s website, Ukrinform reports.
“Discussions will continue this coming week as the Defence Secretary [John Healey] hosts the next meeting of Coalition of the Willing defense ministers in Brussels with his French counterpart on Thursday and chairs the Ukraine Defence Contact Group with his German counterpart on Friday,” the statement reads.
In particular, the defense ministers from coalition nations will meet to discuss “the next stages of planning to support the security arrangements which will be needed to prevent any further Russian aggression”. “Discussions will build on the military planning that has taken place over the last few weeks with nations looking at contributing their own capabilities to support any future force,” the statement reads.
The Ukraine Defence Contact Group will bring together around 50 nations to drive forward additional military support for Ukraine in the face of ongoing Russian attacks.
The British government also pointed out that the Chief of the British Defense Staff, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, met with his Ukrainian and French counterparts in Kyiv. The Defence Chiefs addressed “the structure, size and composition required of any future reassurance force in Ukraine”.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Chiefs of Defense Staff of the French and British Armed Forces, General Thierry Burkhard and Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, met in Kyiv with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukraine’s military leadership. The discussions centered on security guarantees for Ukraine and the future architecture of peace in Europe.
