French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his condolences to Ukrainians following a Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih that claimed the lives of nine children.

He said this in a post in Ukrainian published on social media platform X, according to Ukrinform.

“On this national day of mourning in Ukraine, my thoughts are with the children and all civilian victims of Russia’s bloody strikes, particularly the one on April 4 in Kryvyi Rih,” he wrote.

Macron said that last night, multiple Russian attacks once again targeted residential areas in Kyiv and several other Ukrainian cities.

“While Ukraine accepted President Trump’s proposal nearly a month ago for a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire and while we are working with all our partners to find paths to peace, Russia continues to escalate the war with increasing intensity, showing disregard for the civilian population,” Macron said.

He said that these Russian attacks must stop.

“A ceasefire must be implemented as soon as possible. And decisive action must follow if Russia continues to stall and reject peace. How much longer will Russia ignore the peace proposals from the United States and Ukraine, while continuing to kill children and civilians?” he concluded.

On April 4, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, killing 20 people, nine of them children, aged 3 to 17.

April 6 has been declared a day of mourning in cities and villages across Ukraine in memory of the victims of the Russian attack.
