President Volodymyr Zelensky displayed the best models of drones produced by the Ukrainian defense industry to Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever and representatives of ten Belgian defense companies. These advanced drones are currently in active use on the battlefield.
This was reported by an Ukrinform correspondent.
The Head of State highlighted the significance of collaboration between the defense industries of Ukraine and Belgium, emphasizing the necessity of investing in joint production efforts to enhance the security of Europe as a whole.
“I am pleased that your defense industry has the opportunity to engage in dialogue with Ukrainian representatives today. I want you to see what we have accomplished and how our industry has contributed significantly to defending Ukraine—our civilians and our army. New projects involving our industries, private sectors, and governments are vital for Ukraine’s survival, for boosting joint production, and for ensuring the security of Europe’s future. We need more projects, more cooperation, and more investment,” Zelensky stressed.
The Belgian Prime Minister said that today’s meeting is very important in the issue of rearmament in Europe, and Ukraine, with its experience on the battlefield, plays an important role in this matter.
He noted that billions of dollars in contracts are set to be awarded in Europe, with Germany recently announcing a 500-billion-dollar initiative. The prime minister said this as a clear business opportunity, emphasizing that it would be unexpected for Ukraine—given its significant needs—not to play a central role in Europe’s production and rearmament efforts. He stressed that this cooperation is both logical and mutually beneficial.
He emphasized the importance of the Belgian government acknowledging the challenges Ukraine encounters in establishing production facilities for its defense industry.
During the event, Belgian company representatives were introduced to various innovations, including the Ukrainian multi-purpose unmanned surface vessel Magura V5, the heavy drone Nemesis, a combat unmanned ground vehicle, and a reconnaissance drone, among others.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, three defense agreements were signed as part of the visit of Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever to Ukraine.
