Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi expressed special greetings to the defenders who celebrate Easter on the front line of the war for freedom and independence of Ukraine: “It is thanks to you that the Ukrainian people can celebrate this great holiday in relative safety in the rear.”
According to Ukrinform, Syrskyi wrote about this on Facebook.
“Dear comrades-in-arms and sisters! On this joyful, bright and holy day, I sincerely congratulate you on the greatest Christian holiday – the Resurrection of the Lord. This year, the dates of the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ by Orthodox, Catholics and Protestants symbolically coincided,” he said.
Syrskyi sent special greetings to those who celebrate Easter not in the family circle, but on combat duty, on the front lines of the war for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. “It is thanks to you that the Ukrainian people can celebrate this great holiday in relative safety in the rear,” he added.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also called on Ukrainians to remember the soldiers who protect their peace and tranquility in their prayers and to support the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
“We must preserve the unity of the Ukrainian people, because only together we can defeat the enemy. Just as the risen Christ defeated death, so we will defeat the darkness of war, defeating the Russian invaders and gaining a just peace,” emphasized Syrskyi.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov congratulated Christians on Easter and reminded that thanks to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Easter candles are lit in Ukrainian homes today, prayer is heard and life is saved.
“I congratulate all Christians on Easter, a holiday of spiritual strength, goodness and light. On this day, millions of people in Ukraine and around the world gather with their families to share warmth, prayer and faith in the victory of goodness,” Umerov wrote on Facebook.
“Easter is a reminder of the power of truth, justice and sacrifice for the sake of one’s neighbor. It is a time when the heart longs for peace and the soul longs for unity.
Umerov especially thanked the soldiers, all those who celebrate this holiday not at home, but in a trench, on combat duty, in the operating room or on military equipment.
“You are the ones who make it possible to light Easter candles in Ukrainian homes today, to say a prayer and save lives. Thank you for your steadfastness, for your daily faith – not only in God, but also in your work, in your comrades-in-arms, in our state,” the head of the defense ministry emphasized and wished that the holidays would bring strength, peace of mind and support from the rear.
“And may the good we are fighting for win,” the minister concluded.
