
At nighttime on April 21, Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down 42 Russian combat drones over the Ukrainian territory, while 47 other enemy UAVs (drone decoys) were lost from radar tracking without causing any damage.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
It was noted that starting at 2:00 on Monday, April 21, Russian forces launched a series of airstrikes across Ukraine:
- in Kherson region, Russia used an “Oniks” anti-ship cruise missile launched from the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea;
- in Mykolaiv region, two Kh-31P anti-radar missiles were launched from airspace over the Black Sea;
- Russia also launched 96 attack UAVs from areas near the Russian cities of Millerovo, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The enemy attack was repelled by Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire teams of the Defense Forces.
As of 09:00 on Monday, 42 Shahed-type and other types of drones were confirmed shot down, with interceptions taking place in eastern, northern, southern, and central regions of Ukraine.
It was also confirmed that 47 enemy decoy drones failed to reach their targets.
As a result of the Russian attack, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions suffered damages.
Earlier reports indicate that in Cherkasy region, a critical infrastructure facility was damaged due to Russian drone strikes.
