Russian drones attack Ukrainian railway infrastructure overnight Thu

In Odesa region on the night of May 1, Ukraine’s railway infrastructure came under a Russian attack as in one of the network’s sections, rail tracks, power lines, and three freight cars sustained damage.

Ukrzaliznytsia, the national operator of Ukraine’s railway network, reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform saw.

According to the operator, no casualties were recorded at the company premises. However, as a result of the strike on Odesa, a railway worker died in his own home.

“We express our condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased, and we will support the family,” Ukrzaliznytsia noted.

Passenger trains are reportedly running on schedule.

Freight routes are being diverted while urgent restoration works are underway to ensure that cargo can reach ports without hindrance.

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of May 1, Russian invaders attacked Odesa, employing a swarm of attack drones. Civil infrastructure suffered damage.

Two people were killed and 15 injured.
