North Korea and Russia have acknowledged the participation of North Korean troops in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, which demonstrates both states’ blatant disregard for international law.

This was stated in a declaration released on Friday by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by Ukrinform.

“North Korea and Russia have acknowledged the participation of North Korean soldiers in operations conducted as part of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This demonstrates both states’ disregard for international law,” the statement reads.

The French Foreign Ministry emphasized that, since October, along with its partners, France has strongly condemned the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia, calling it an escalation in North Korea’s massive military support for Russia’s aggressive war.

“This hostile act has direct consequences for the security of Europeans and, more generally, for international security. We strongly condemn it,” the statement underscores. It also calls on North Korea to immediately cease any support for Russian aggression, which violates UN Security Council resolutions, and to comply with its international obligations.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the Central Military Commission of North Korean Workers’ Party recently confirmed that DPRK military units are participating in combat operations against Ukrainian Defense Forces in Russia’s Kursk region.

The U.S. State Department also stated that North Korea’s support for Russia is prolonging the war in Ukraine, and that the country bears responsibility for it.
