President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Marketa Pekárová-Adamová and her deputies the strengthening of sanctions against Russia and Ukraine’s future in the European Union.
According to Ukrinform, Zelensky posted this on Facebook.
“I met with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, Marketa Pekárová-Adamová, and deputy speakers of the Chamber of Deputies – representatives of all political parties,” the President said.
The focus of the meeting, he said, was to support Ukraine and peace. The situation on the battlefield proves it: Russia does not want a long silence that will open the way for diplomacy.

The parties also discussed sanctions and Ukraine’s future in the European Union.
“We look forward to strengthening sanctions against Russia and opening the first clusters in the negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the EU,” Zelenskyy said.
He thanked the Czech parliament and all political forces for supporting Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale war and for supporting Ukraine’s movement to NATO and the EU.
According to the President’s press service, the meeting in Prague was attended by the deputy chairmen of the Chamber of Deputies Věra Kovářová, Jan Bartošek, Jan Skopěček, Olga Richterová, Karel Havlíček, Ales Jučelka, and Pavel Žáček.
Zelensky noted Pekarova-Adamova’s participation in the Crimean Platform’s Parliamentary Summit last year and the adoption of five resolutions in support of Ukraine by the Chamber of Deputies.
The President emphasized that Ukraine has demonstrated its readiness to achieve a just and lasting peace through diplomatic means, but Russia refuses to accept the proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire for 30 days.
During the meeting, they discussed maintaining sanctions against Russia as long as its aggression continues. Ukraine expects the EU to adopt the 17th sanctions package as soon as possible, in particular against Russia’s energy and banking sectors.
Ukraine also counts on support for the practical and effective continuation of negotiations on EU accession, the statement said.
Zelensky noted Pekarova-Adamova’s personal involvement in the implementation of humanitarian projects in Ukrainian hospitals, including the supply of necessary equipment, and the participation of Czech doctors in the treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers.
For her part, Pekárová-Adamová emphasized that the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament would continue to support Ukraine at all levels.
“This meeting took place with all my colleagues, all representatives, deputy speakers of the parliament, including colleagues from the opposition, which is also very important for us to demonstrate our unity and condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine,” she summarized.
As Ukrinform reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife are on an official visit to the Czech Republic.
