Since the start of the day, May 7, as many as 93 combat engagements have taken place between Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops, with active fighting ongoing in seven operational directions, the most intense being in the Pokrovsk sector.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted the update on Facebook as of 16:00 on Wednesday, May 7, according to Ukrinform.
Russian forces have been shelling multiple border settlements across Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions. Airstrikes were reported on Boyaro-Lezhachi in Sumy region.
In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces launched six assaults near Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, and Kamyanka. Four engagements are ongoing.
In the Kupiansk sector, three assaults occurred near Hlushkivka and Nova Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman sector, Russians attacked nine times near Kopanky, Hrekivka, Kolodiazi, and toward Ridkodub, Novyi Myr, and Olhivka. Three engagements are still ongoing.
In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled six enemy assaults near Verkhniokamianske and Bilohorivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the Ukrainian defenders are currently repelling two enemy attempts to advance in the areas of Bila Hora and Chasiv Yar. Earlier, they had successfully halted four enemy attacks.
In the Toretsk sector, Russians launched eight attacks near Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, and Dyliivka. One battle is underway.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russian invaders made 24 attempts to push Ukraine’s Defense Forces from their positions in the areas of Malynivka, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Zvirove, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Novooleksandrivka, Nadiivka, Bohdanivka, and Andriivka, as well as towards Bahatyr, Oleksiivka, Nova Poltavka, and Kotliarivka. Ukrainian forces are holding back the enemy’s pressure and have repelled 19 attacks, while five clashes are still ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka sector, 12 enemy attacks were repelled near Kostiantynopil, Novosilka, Vilne Pole, and toward Novopil, Bahatyr, and Odradne. One engagement is still ongoing. Airstrikes hit Novodarivka, Temyrivka, and Novopil.
In the Huliaipole sector, Ukraine’s forces stopped one assault near Vysoke; airstrikes hit Malynivka, Vysoke, and Huliaipole.
In the Orikhiv sector, the Ukrainian defenders repelled four assaults near Stepove and Kamianske, which also suffered guided bomb attacks.
In the Prydniprovske sector, the enemy carried out one unsuccessful assault to advance.
In Russia’s Kursk region, Ukrainian forces have repelled eight attacks, while one battle is still ongoing. The enemy launched two airstrikes, dropped six guided bombs, and conducted 176 artillery strikes, including one with MLRS (multiple launch rocket system).
The situation in other sectors of the front remained largely unchanged.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Defense Forces of Ukraine shot down two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and 81 drones used by the Russians to attack Ukraine since the evening of May 6.
