
On May 9, Russian shelling claimed the lives of three civilians and left four others injured in the Sumy region.
That’s according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Ukrinform reports.
“As a result of Russian attacks on the region, three people were killed in the past day,” the statement read. “A local resident born in 1961 was killed in the Richky community, while another, born in 1940, was killed in the Nova Sloboda community. Earlier, a civilian born in 1967 was killed in the Bilopillia community.”
Four more people sustained injuries in the attacks. One person was injured in the Shostka community, another in the Buryn community, while two others were wounded in the Nova Sloboda community.
Between the morning of May 9 and the morning of May 10, Russian forces carried out more than 150 strikes on 32 settlements across 15 territorial communities in the region, with the most concentrated attacks occurring in the Sumy, Shostka, and Konotop districts.
The enemy launched nearly 70 strikes using glide bombs, conducted 20 FPV drone attacks, and dropped explosives from UAVs almost 20 times.
Russian forces also targeted the Sumy region with Smerch MLRS and conducted airstrikes using NAR unguided missiles from helicopters.
As a result of the attacks, six private homes were damaged in the Richky community, while non-residential buildings sustained damage in the Shostka community. In the Nova Sloboda community, both private residences and a civilian infrastructure facility were affected. Meanwhile, in the Bilopillia community, a shop, 17 private homes, 10 commercial buildings, and multiple civilian infrastructure facilities suffered destruction. A civilian infrastructure site was also damaged in the Druzhba community.
As reported, between the morning of May 8 and the morning of May 9, Russian forces launched 80 attacks on 21 settlements across 10 territorial communities in the region. No casualties were reported.
