Galushchenko discusses bilateral energy cooperation with European counterparts

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko held a series of bilateral meetings with European sectoral ministers in Warsaw.

That’s according to the Ministry of Energy, as reported by Ukrinform.

During the discussions, Galushchenko met with Icelandic Minister of Environment, Energy, and Climate Johann Pall Johannsson to explore potential cooperation on geothermal energy projects in Ukraine. The talks also included the possibility of Icelandic specialists training Ukrainian experts in the field.

Since the start of the large-scale war, Iceland has contributed over EUR 5.6 million to the Energy Support Fund and has provided Ukrainian energy companies with essential equipment.

Galushchenko also met with Lithuanian Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas to assess the current state of Ukraine’s energy sector amid ongoing Russian attacks. The ministers focused on strengthening energy security for both countries and the broader European continent.

Galushchenko also met with Moldovan Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu to discuss bilateral cooperation, particularly in the electricity and gas sectors. The talks emphasized both countries’ European integration aspirations, focusing on regulatory frameworks and technical solutions.

The ministers also explored the development of alternative gas supply routes and the potential use of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities to establish a strategic gas reserve.

Additionally, Galushchenko met with Danish Minister of Climate and Energy Lars Aagaard to discuss collaboration in green energy, including wind power and the implementation of biomethane industry projects. Denmark has been actively supporting Ukraine’s energy sector, recently committing EUR 7 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to help restore infrastructure damaged by Russian strikes.
