A “1,000-for-1,000” prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia could take place in the near future.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced this on television while commenting on the outcome of negotiations with the Russian delegation in Istanbul, Ukrinform reports.
“We already know the date, but we won’t announce it just yet,” Umerov said.
A meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations took place in Istanbul on Friday.
On May 6, a large prisoner exchange was held between Ukraine and Russia, during which 205 Ukrainian defenders were released from Russian captivity.
