A volunteer from Latvia, Nikita Tarenov with the call sign “Latvian”, was killed in the battles for Ukraine.
This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to DELFI.
The information about Tarenov’s death was confirmed to Latvian television by a source close to the soldier.
Social media accounts supporting Ukraine also reported the death of the volunteer.

Spokesperson for the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diana Eglite told LETA that the Latvian Embassy in Ukraine has not yet received official confirmation from the Ukrainian military.
The Latvian Ministry of Defense also noted that it was waiting for official information from the Ukrainian authorities, but confirmed that Tarenov had not previously served in the National Armed Forces of Latvia.
It is noted that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, this is the third Latvian volunteer to lose his life at the front.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, a volunteer from Latvia, Edgars Platonovs, was killed in the battles for Ukraine.
