The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed the destruction of the Bolkhov Semiconductor Plant in the Oryol region of the Russian Federation.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff reported this on Facebook.
On the night of May 21, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, hit the Bolkhov plant.
This is one of the leading enterprises of the Russian Federation in the field of development and production of semiconductor devices and components.
The main areas of activity include the production of semiconductor devices, microelectronics, power electronics, diodes and diode assemblies, chips for switching power supplies, optoelectronic switches, and servo drives.
The company supplies products to at least 19 companies in the Russian military-industrial complex, including Sukhoi aircraft, Iskander and Kinzhal missiles.
Despite the fact that the plant is under international sanctions, it produces almost 3 million devices annually and employs about 700 people.
Ten units of UAVs have been confirmed to have reached the target area. A fire was recorded.
Detailed information on the consequences of the defeat is being clarified, the General Staff emphasized and stressed that the Defense Forces continue to take all measures to undermine the military and economic potential of the Russian invaders and force Russia to stop its armed aggression against Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported, earlier the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andrii Kovalenko, said that drones had hit the Bolkhov Semiconductor Plant in the Oryol region of the Russian Federation.
