Minister of national unity meets with Ukrainians in Chisinau

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity, Oleksiy Chernyshov, visited the Ukrainian House in Chisinau, where he met with members of the Ukrainian community in Moldova, including displaced persons, civic leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, and volunteers.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Moldova reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

The meeting was also attended by Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova Paun Rohovei and the head of the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova, Dmitrii Lecartev.

The key focus of the visit was to strengthen the connection between Ukrainians abroad and their homeland, shape policies that meet the community’s real needs, and encourage engagement in building Ukraine’s future.

“It’s especially valuable to hear directly from our people who find themselves abroad but remain part of Ukraine. Their experiences, concerns, and insights are crucial for developing sensitive and effective national policies. We’re working to ensure that every Ukrainian feels supported and connected to home,” Chernyshov said.

The embassy noted that Moldova has accepted the highest number of Ukrainian refugees per capita. Currently, over 120,000 Ukrainians are in the country, with more than 80,000 having regularized their legal status.

“Despite all the challenges, they hold on to their faith, resilience, and national dignity. We thank everyone for the heartfelt conversation and the trust. Together – toward victory!” the embassy added.

This meeting follows Chernyshov’s recent visit to the Ukrainian community in Turkey, where similar discussions were held about the challenges faced by Ukrainians abroad, ways to support them, and the prospects for return.
