
Russian forces targeted railway infrastructure in the Chernivtsi region, causing damage.
According to Ukrinform, Ukraine’s state rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia reported the attack on Telegram, stating that while the shelling caused structural damage, no employees or passengers were harmed.
Ruslan Zaparniuk, head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, noted that enemy drones struck Bukovyna at dawn. Thanks to coordinated efforts by air defense forces, several enemy targets were successfully neutralized.
Debris from the attack ignited a fire at a railway station in one district. Emergency responders swiftly contained the blaze. No injuries or fatalities were reported, Zaparniuk emphasized.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Russian artillery shelling on May 18 damaged a locomotive at a railway station in Kherson.
