Russia reports repeated attack on Energia plant in Lipetsk region

Overnight on Saturday, drones attacked Russia’s Lipetsk region. Local residents report a repeated strike on the Energia plant in the town of Yelets.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Telegram channel Astra.

Lipetsk region governor Igor Artamonov stated that a red level drone threat alert was issued in Yelets. He said drone debris fell in an industrial area, there were no casualties, emergency services are working at the scene.

Local residents claim the Energia plant was hit again, with witnesses reporting hearing at least five explosions. They also noted the presence of helicopters in the sky above the city.

The Energia plant specializes in the production of chemical power sources. Its products are widely used across various sectors, including the defense industry, civil aviation, maritime transport, and the energy sector. The plant manufactures batteries, including for drones, as well as batteries for aviation and naval applications.

Additionally, in Novomoskovsk, Tula region, a natural gas pipeline was damaged as a result of a drone strike on a local enterprise, according to regional governor Dmitry Miliayev.

Miliayev reported that the impact caused a fire at the site. Three people were injured: two were hospitalized, and one received medical assistance on-site. In one district of Novomoskovsk, several private homes suffered minor damage from falling drone debris.

As previously reported, on May 23, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike on PJSC Energia in the town of Yelets, Lipetsk region, Russia.
