Russian attack on Kyiv region: Injury toll rises to 29, four killed

The number of those injured in a Russian airstrike on the Kyiv region overnight into May 25 has risen to 29, including six children, while four people have been confirmed dead.

According to Ukrinform, Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, said this in a post on Facebook.

The attack involved attack drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles, with air raid alert lasting nearly nine hours.

In the Obukhiv district, two people were killed as a fire engulfed a hangar and a nearby building. Rescuers later found the bodies of a woman and a man while extinguishing the blaze.

In the Bucha district, a 49-year-old man was killed after his private house sustained damage.








Another person was killed in the Fastiv district, where a body was discovered amidst efforts to put out a fire in a private residence.

“The enemy deliberately targeted peaceful towns and villages across the region, resulting in a growing number of casualties. Currently, 29 people have been injured, including six children,” said the regional governor.

Additionally, six people were wounded in the Bila Tserkva district. Two men, a woman, and two girls, aged 10 and 13, were hospitalized with various injuries.

Another man sustained facial injuries but did not require hospitalization. Meanwhile, a Russian strike caused extensive damage in the area, affecting the hangars of an enterprise, three private houses, outbuildings, and a car, according to Kalashnyk.

In the Bucha district, 12 people were injured, including one child, four men, and seven women. Two men were hospitalized in local medical facilities. A total of 39 private houses and warehouses were damaged.

In the Fastiv district, 11 people were injured, including three children, with damage reported to private homes and vehicles.

In the Obukhiv district, a private house, a hangar, two cars, and an educational institution sustained damage. Windows in the gymnasium were shattered, and part of the building’s wall was damaged.

The Vyshhorod district also reported damage, with a garage and a car affected by the strikes.

“All operational services are engaged in addressing the aftermath of the enemy’s nighttime attack. Alongside local authorities, communities, and international partners, we are working to support the victims,” Kalashnyk emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, Kyiv and the region came under a targeted attack by Russian drones and ballistic missiles.

Earlier reports confirmed that 16 people were injured and four were killed in the attack.
