As a result of a large-scale overnight Russian attack on Ukraine on May 25, 12 people have been killed and more than 60 injured.

This was reported by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“As of now, more than 70 people have been affected: 12 killed, over 60 injured. Among the dead are three children from the same family in Zhytomyr region. Their parents have been hospitalized, and the mother is in serious condition,” he stated.

According to Klymenko, 13 regions were targeted by the Russian assault: the city of Kyiv, as well as Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, and Poltava regions.

More than 80 residential buildings were damaged. Authorities recorded 27 fires, with firefighters still working to extinguish blazes at three sites.

The Minister noted that he remains in constant contact with regional authorities and coordinates the efforts of emergency services.

“From the first moments, State Emergency Service workers and police officers have been operating at all affected sites, clearing debris, evacuating people, documenting the consequences of Russian war crimes, and assisting the victims,” he emphasized.

“This was a brutal, combined strike aimed at civilians. Once again, the enemy has shown that its goal is fear and death,” Klymenko added.
