The Ukrainian government will work with international partners to extend the duration of temporary protection for Ukrainian citizens in the European Union.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Facebook by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for National Unity of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov.
According to him, the Ministry for National Unity continues to closely monitor the situation.
“Our position is clear and principled: Ukraine defends the rights of every one of its citizens who was forced to flee their home due to Russian aggression. Next week in Brussels, a series of consultations will take place with my participation regarding the duration of temporary protection for Ukrainians in the EU. Together with our partners, we will work on its extension,” he stated.
Chernyshov expressed his belief that temporary protection for Ukrainian citizens in EU countries should remain in place until a long-term and stable peace is achieved. At the same time, he noted that it must be understood this status cannot continue indefinitely.
“We are grateful to our European partners for their support! We will continue to work together on effective solutions in the interests of our citizens,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
As Ukrinform previously reported, according to Eurostat, the number of Ukrainians under temporary protection in the EU countries has decreased.
