War update: 216 clashes on frontline on Tuesday, fiercest fighting near Pokrovsk

On May 27, a total of 216 combat clashes between Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders occurred on the frontline, with the Pokrovsk sector seeing the greatest number of battles.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, sharing operational information as of 08:00 on Wednesday, May 28.

“A total of 216 clashes were recorded throughout the past day,” the report says.

According to updated information, the enemy carried out one missile strike and 95 air strikes, using two missiles and dropping 161 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russians deployed 2,672 kamikaze drones and carried out 4,566 shellings of our troops’ positions and settlements.

The aggressor conducted air strikes, particularly targeting the areas near the settlements of Sumy, Petrushivka, Osoivka, Klymentove in Sumy region; Stepanivka in Donetsk region; Novodarivka, Huliaipole, Kamianske, Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia region; and Lvove in Kherson region.

Throughout the past day, aviation, missile forces, and artillery of Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck nine clusters of enemy troops, weapons, and military, as well as two other important enemy objects.

In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy attacked the Ukrainian positions nine times near the settlements of Vovchansk, Zapadne, Stroivka, Fiholivka, and Dovhenke.

In the Kupiansk sector, two enemy attacks occurred yesterday. The Ukrainian defenders stopped enemy assault actions near Zahryzove.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy launched 32 attacks. They attempted to break into the Ukrainian defenses near Serebriansky Forest, Nadiya, Novomykhailivka, Ridkodub, Kopanky, Katerynivka, Yampolivka, Zelena Dolyna, and in the directions of Hrekivka, Hryhorivka, Karpivka, and Novyi Myr.

In the Kramatorsk sector, 11 clashes were recorded near Chasiv Yar, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, and towards Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk sector, Russian forces carried out 19 attacks near Druzhba, Dyliivka, Kurdiumivka, and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 65 enemy assault attempts near the settlements of Zoria, Myroliubivka, Malynivka, Lysivka, Zvirove, Udachne, Yelyzavetivka, Dachenske, Kotlyne, Horikhove, Novoserhiivka, Novomykolaivka, Muravka, Kotliarivka, Troitske, Bohdanivka, Andriivka, and towards Yablunivka and Oleksiivka.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the enemy conducted 25 attacks near the settlements of Kostiantynopil, Burlatske, Novopil, Zelene Pole, and towards Shevchenko.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian invaders attempted to advance 11 times near Mali Shcherbaky, Shcherbaky, Stepove, and in the directions of Novoandriivka and Novodanylivka.

In the Siversk, Huliaipole, and Prydniprovske sectors, the enemy did not conduct active offensive operations.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, there are no signs of enemy offensive groups formation.

The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to hold the enemy in the Kursk sector. Yesterday, Russian forces launched 11 air strikes, dropping 21 guided aerial bombs and carried out 273 shellings, including 14 with multiple rocket launchers. The Ukrainian defenders repelled 32 enemy assault attempts.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, from February 24, 2022, to May 28, 2025, the total combat losses of Russian forces in the war against Ukraine amount to approximately 983,890 personnel, including 1,050 over the past day alone.
